In 1994, Rotorua hosted what some say was one of the best Interhashes held. In 2002 Wellington bid, but was unsuccessful in Goa. Since then every Interhash everyone has asked "When is New Zealand going to bid again?". Well, the answer is 2018 and we hope we have your support!

Come and see why New Zealand has been labelled one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Life's too short - you haven't Hashed until you've Hashed in New Zealand....

Why Queenstown?

Queenstown is located in the southern lakes region of the South Island of New Zealand. Surrounded by dramatic mountains and crystal-clear Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown is renowned for its spectacular scenery, four distinct seasons and world class activities and attractions.

 

It's easy to get here with daily direct flights from around New Zealand and Australia and great road connections to major New Zealand highways. Once you're in Queenstown there are so many things to do.


Queenstown is renowned around the world for its spectacular scenery, outstanding landscapes and natural attractions. From majestic mountains to crystal clear lakes, our environment is the stage for all that we do. Straight from The Lord of the Rings film sets, this is where you will be hashing.

We recognise the significance of our pristine natural environment to the tourism industry and the importance of sustainable environmental practices.

Queenstown is a natural playground providing an incredible backdrop for a range of sights to see and things to do for adventurers of all persuasions.


There are over 150 bars and cafes in the Queenstown region, with everything from fine dining, restaurants owned by celebrity chefs, hash-friendly eateries to boutique dessert diners. Not to mention award-winning cafes and iconic burger joints that command a serious following. 


You can even combine a round of golf at one of Queenstown's gorgeous clubs one morning with a tour of some of our wineries and cellar doors in Gibbston and further afield to discover just why Central Otago Pinot Noir is famous on the world stage.


If you're looking for a slightly slower pace there's plenty to explore, guided tours, boat cruises, scenic flights or spa and wellness options to help you relax before and after Interhash.
